On the 66th anniversary of the raid on Los Banos, I have been searching for anyone else who is remembering this event. I am a descendant of one of the children liberated from Los Banos, and I have always been grateful for the courage and dedication of those men of the 11th Airborne--without them, I literally would not be here.
I've heard it said that if you save a single life, you save an entire generation, and my brother and I are living proof. Expand that to each life that was saved that day, and there are thousands of us who owe our lives to the bravery of the 11th Airborne.
I know there are few left, but if even one of you reads this note, it is worth it. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

Hi Sean! My grandfather, Richard H. Dibblee, was a medic with the 188th GIR. He was probably considered an "old man" at the age of 31 when being drafted. Your website is awesome! I am currently finding/looking for information about my grandfather during WWII.
Sincerely, Justin B

My Dad is Robert Putnam. He'll be 84 yrs old soon. He took his basic @ Camp Wolters, Texas. He was in the 3rd Bat., 188 PIR, Co. H . He was stationed in Japan in 1946. In the early 1950's he went back into the Army and was at Ft Campbell, when he broke his back testing a newly built 34 ft tower. He eventually became a Sheriff's Deputy with Montgomery County, Ohio until his retirement in 1988. He is now basically disabled, as the back injury which troubled him his entire life, has, in the past year, really caused a downturn in his health. He has numerous pictures of himself in Japan. Including one in his "Swing" hat. He has been a wonderful father to us 3 children. Thank you for reading. Sincerely , Paul Putnam, US Army 1984-1988.

Hi, my name is Katherine Daniel. My grandfather is Frank Hayes Daniel. He recently said he was in the 11th Airborne. Growing up, we always heard stories about Japan, but never really any specifics. If anyone recognizes his name, it would be interesting to hear what other stories are around or if anyone has pictures, I'd love to see more.
Thanks for this website. I just searched for 11th airborne, not really expecting to find anything.
Katherine

I'm Sean Smart. I am retired from the US Army and work as a photo retoucher. I've had an interest in WWII history since childhood and became obsessed with the US Airborne. The web site and this forum are my way of giving back to the veterans of the 11th and their families. I served with the 187th Infantry as part of the 101st Airborne Division for about 10 years. Sean

Sean Smart I see you are scanning the 1943 book. Are there names linked to the group photos and a method of working out the different companies. For example my father LLoyd St.Clair is in the yearbook, described as being in the service company with 222 enlisted men with commanding officer Captain Kermit O Bradley. (This is info from someone who owns the yearbook) There is a photo of my father but I would like to know if he is in any of the group shots. Also I do not know if he was in the same group all the way through to February 6 1945 in Manilla. How do you tell that? Thanks

Greetings! I am Chris. I am myself a vet & I am seeking any info I can get on Joe Kozicki who served with the angels & took part in the Los Banos raid. His daughter is very close to me & sadly she hasn't many good memories of him as he passed when she was young as did her mom. I reckon she deserves to know anything positive about him and she holds those who have served in the highest reguard. Thank you in advance! Chris.

Hi,
I was assigned to the last active unit with direct lineage to the 11th Airborne. The 11th Quartermaster (AE&S) parachute rigger company billeted at Rhine Kaserne, Wiesbaden, Germany (1969-1970). The unit wore the unit citations earned by the division during WW2.
